It is a matter of great pride and privilege to host the 27th annual state conference of IAPSM and IPHA, taking place in our prestigious twin institution. As Head of the Department of Community Medicine, I am delighted to present this platform to bring together academicians, researchers, public health professionals and practitioners dedicated to improving the health and well-being of communities.
Our department remains deeply committed to the vision of emerging as a center of excellence in teaching, training, service delivery, research, and public health management. We are proud that we offer a wide range of community-based services, including the General OPD, routine oral and cancer screening, palliative care, NCDs within the General OPD, a Yellow Fever Vaccination Centre, dedicated Under-Five and Geriatric OPD outreach services, and both Urban and Rural Health Training Centres.
At the heart of our work is a shared belief in excellence in teaching, practice of evidence based medicine and activism in primary health care delivery. With this objective in mind, the conference will have orations, plenary sessions, paper and poster presentations, enabling delegates to share their research, ideas, and field experiences. This platform will encourage informed discussions, healthy deliberations, and the exchange of innovative solutions that address current public health challenges.
We hope this scientific gathering ignites new collaborations, encourages evidence-based practice, and inspires each participant in working towards bridging gaps in urban & rural health. It is our sincere wish that all delegates have a fruitful and enriching experience at the conference, and enjoy the spirit and hospitality of Mumbai.
Seth G.S. Medical College and KEM Hospital since its establishment in 1926, has stood for academic excellence, clinical service, and pathbreaking research. This year particularly holds special significance for us, as Seth G.S. Medical College celebrates its centenary. This institution has consistently pioneered numerous ventures, establishing itself as a leader. It's a pleasure to host this conference both as a celebration of this institution's contribution to public health and as a testament to our continuing commitment to it.
The Department of Community Medicine has been at the forefront of public health initiatives and community outreach. Hosting a conference of such scale and ambition is a proud moment and an opportunity to highlight the progress of public health in Mumbai. This conference also serves the goal of furthering the practice of public health and the research that drives it.
I extend my warmest wishes to all delegates, speakers, and organisers. May this conference inspire meaningful dialogue, foster collaboration, and contribute to a healthier tomorrow. I also extend a hearty welcome to our institution, a marvel of history and culture, and hope you get to explore and experience it alongside the beautiful and vibrant city of Mumbai itself.
